Katie Rox (Thursday @ 5:30)
Katie Rox is quickly becoming one of Canada’s most noticed new singer/songwriters. After international success and two albums as the lead singer of the industrial-rock band Jakalope, Katie has taken her experience writing on the band’s award-nominated lyrics and melodies into softer, more personal songs. During her time as front woman and co-writer, Jakalope had several videos on heavy rotation on Much Music and multiple Much Music Video Award nominations.
Laurelle & Alexander (Thursday @ 7:15pm)
Laurelle & Alexander are a psychedelic duo who met in the Whistler mountains. Both keen musicians and travellers, they crossed the globe whilst creating and performing tracks for their debut album.
They are currently in the process of recording *Across Oceans* for release on BOOM TING(Uk) later this year as well as releasing a free 6 track single in early November.
Alas The Ocean (Friday @ 7pm)
ALAS, THE OCEAN is a 6 piece indie folk-rock band started in high school by multi-instrumentalist Allen Rapadas. Oftendescribed as a mixture of indie folk and contemporary pop, ALAS, THE OCEAN is pure acoustic emotion. Their sound has the delicate feeling and strong storytelling aspects of folk music, but is also mixed with the energy and accessibility of modern pop.
Rachael Chatoor (Satuday @ noon)
Rachael Chatoor is a Vancouver based singer/songwriter, full time performer and artist who has written/recorded and donated songs and videos to events, albums, charities and causes which serve to support people dealing with cancer as well as assists and advocates for youths and women in personal need. Her work has allowed her behind the scenes to make all access pass videos at music industry events and concerts and she lifts the veil on her own experiences as she films and edits videos and shares events, growth and her passage through life and music. Hemant Rao (Satuday @ 3pm)
Hemant Rao is a singer/songwriter originally from Montreal, now residing in Vancouver who has toured the US west coast and NYC. Hemant’s performances are all about “living the song” and his recordings have been compared to the likes of George Harrison.
Elisa Thorn (Sunday @ noon)
Elisa Thorn is an internationally known harpist based in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has been playing the harp since she was 9 years old and has a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of British Columbia. As a soloist performer for Azamara Club Cruises, she has performed across the Mediterranean and Indian Oceans. In Vancouver, she has performed with the UBC Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphonic Winds, the New Westminster Orchestra, various chamber ensembles and groups. Currently she is working with the Vancouver Orchestra Club on their upcoming season. She enjoys a busy schedule of teaching and performing at weddings, parties, and venues around town.
Chris Witoski (Sunday @ 2pm)
Chris Witoski has been performing on stages world wide for the majority of his musical career as vocalist/guitarist for the group Splitract, and as former guitarist/back up vocalist with Art Of Dying. He’s shared stages with some of rocks most well know acts, including Seether, Staind, My Chemical Romance, Tool, Theory of a Deadman and Papa Roach. In 2008 Witoski decided to pursue his own creative avenues and began recording his sophmore solo release. Witoski’s single “Chance” was featured on 99.3 The Fox in 2008 and gained him recognition as one of the top twenty finalists on that year’s Fox Seeds program. Fast forward one year and countless hours spent in the recording studio and the first single from his upcoming album is now officially released; the fantastic, laid back, summertime vibe, acoustic track, “Shine”.
